Jefferson County Summary Appeals

Jefferson County publishes detailed summary appeal instructions. A criminal summary appeal from MDJ sentencing must be filed within 30 days from the sentencing date. The filing cost is $52.00 and non-refundable. If the last day falls on a weekend, the filer has until the next business day. The office explains that "affiant" means the police agency that brought the charges, and "issuing authority" means the magisterial judge who heard the case.

After a summary appeal is filed, the office provides a copy to mail to PennDOT.
